Smacks of a very familiar Georgette Heyer plot right? It’s basically lifted directly from the opening pages of ‘The Corinthian’. Said member of the gentry then feels compelled to take her under his wing and escort her on her errand disguised as a young man. And I admit the author almost lost my interest at the beginning when she had a young lady scaling the wall of her residence using her bed sheets only to be espied by a passing peer of the realm well and truly in his cups. Not least of all because the main character in this book is the villain from the first Mr Brundy & Lady Helen book! And truly he hasn't really changed all that much by the end. This is my least favourite of Sheri Cobb South’s books so far.
